I was originally introduced to this concept by Maggie Appleton's post. Andy Matuschak has some interesting ideas like working with the garage door up. This one by Mike Caulfield talks about gardens vs streams, but then Tom Critchlow wrote a very strong essay about the differences between streams, campfires, and gardens that resonated with me. Some thoughts on what's fair for digital garden visitors and gardeners by Shaun Wang.

A digital garden's interconnected nature is an instance of Linked Data.
A wiki with multiple editors might be an example of a community garden. Would Gathering be relevant to that endeavor? Linking to places outside of the garden should follow Ethical Citation practices. If I'm linking to them, including semantic information in that link might be helpful, are there Metadata Standards for annotating an individual link like that? Should I implement some kind of RDF or JSON-LD for the pages on my own site? How can I discover that other sites are available to be linked to?
How do we handle citations to content within digital gardens when those resources can be moved, deleted, rewritten or expanded? Should we support linking to previous or specific versions?
Whittaker's reference vs actionable information dichotomy deserves attention too. Is there a way to use a digital garden to support GTD/todo lists without losing the cultivatory nature?
