What causes me dysphoria? How do I conceptualize it? What can I do about it? What makes it better or worse? How do I cope? How do I plan to heal?

Some very smart people have suggested that dysphoria might be a very specific form of chronic post-traumatic stress disorder, which would fit the general Maslowian model of emotional pain from long-term, unmet needs; that, in turn, would make gender dysphoria a chronic emotional pain condition caused by ongoing complex emotional trauma, the causes of which must be resolved for healing to be possible.
Chronic pain as a parallel for gender dysphoria. Doesn't resolve on its own, mindfulness makes it worse (though it can be useful for other things), is often significantly reduced or permanently resolved with acknowledgement and treatment of the underlying issue, commonly coped with via dissociation.
