What it is

A period of unconsciousness where your brain has an opportunity to relax and process information gained throughout the day, organize it, and file it into long term memory.

How to do it

Most of the memory-related function of sleep seems to happen after the 6 hour mark. It’s theorized that the first 6 hours of sleep are just to rest and rebuild damage incurred by the body and brain during the preceding waking period. As the night progresses beyond the 6 hour mark, REM cycles indicative of mental work and processing increase in duration and intensity. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night, and consider using an alarm clock to wake you in between REM cycles.

When to apply it

Always. This is part of being healthy.
